Sending Announcement Email Messages
Q: How can I email a special announcement to all Initiative members, even ones who have not yet joined the Community Network or are set to read on the Web only?
In some Initiatives, especially news or announcement Initiatives, not all Initiative members receive the email messages in their email inboxes. They may have chosen to read the Initiative email messages only within the Community Network environment. If there is a very important message that needs to be seen by everyone, you have two additional options:
"-announce" Email Messages To send an important message to all members of a Initiative, regardless of whether the person has an email subscribed or not, the moderator does this:
For a list called "list@YOURCOMMUNITY.ORG", send an email to:
"list-announce@YOURCOMMUNITY.ORG"
The email must come from an email address registered to a Community administrator or a
Initiative moderator. Emails to the -announce address for any Initiative that are sent from other email addresses are forwarded to the Initiative moderator.
Please use this feature responsibly, since it will go out to people who may not wish to get large numbers of email messages.
"-all" Email Messages To send an announcement to everyone on a list, including those who have not yet signed into the Community Network, the moderator does this:
For a list called "list@YOURCOMMUNITY.ORG", send an email to:
"list-all@YOURCOMMUNITY.ORG"
Usually this option only makes sense on the "Everyone" Initiative.
