Is It Possible To Receive Email Messages In Digest Form
Q. Is it possible to receive discussion emails in Digest form?
A. Yes, you can receive Initiative email messages in Digest form, where you receive one email per day, containing all messages to that Initiative from the previous day. To choose Digest setting, go to Email Settings at the top of any CN page and scroll down to where you see the listing of all Initiatives of which you are a member. Click the button that mentions digests to start receiving messages in that format.
If you have set your Initiatives to "read on web only" you will not see the Digest option, because you are not receiving email for those. You will need to click on the box that says Select different verified email address and choose the email address (if there is more than one) that you want to get your Digests sent to. Then, the Digest option will appear and you can select that.
Another option if you would prefer to not receive individual messages, is to choose to read on the web only. See What setting lets you read a Community Network Initiative on the web only[new page]?
An additional option for handling your Initiative email is to set up your mail program to automatically filter and sort your incoming messages into folders. For example, if you belong to several different Community Network Initiatives, you could set up your email program to sort each Initiative's messages into its own folder. This way, your inbox stays manageable and you can read each Initiative's mail at your leisure. Of course, each email program has a different method for doing this (Eudora uses "filters", Outlook and Outlook Express use "rules", etc.), but here are some sample tutorials (note that these links take you outside the Community Network environment).
